Training Seminar:
Unleashing the Potential for Everyday Leadership
Being the Change We Wish to See

“Our lives are our message, by design or by default.  I don’t think that we can say that a person is simply a leader or not. The question is in which parts of our lives do we choose to take on a leadership role, apply a leadership mindset, or make leadership choices? We are all ambassadors of some kind. The question is what we are using our power and influence to be an ambassador for?”

~ Denise Bissonnette

image of tall TreesWhat would it look like if every person in your workplace saw themselves, first and foremost, as leaders?  What if every person, regardless of position, invoked the qualities and characteristics that inspire, promote and engage those around them to bring the best of themselves to the tasks before them? In this thought-provoking and inspiring presentation, Denise entreats us to recognize, appreciate, and invoke the powers and potential that lies within each of us to be the change we wish to see in our workplaces, our homes, in our larger communities, and in the lives of the individuals we serve.

Most leadership books are based on one of three models – that of sports, the military, or the business world.  What people in human services and education know, however, is that we have our own sense of leadership from the work that we do day in and day out, twelve months of the year.  Sadly, few people in our field self-identify as “leaders”, buying into the myth that leadership is earned or ordained through status, position or authority. In this seminar, Denise succeeds in dispelling the many myths of leadership and helps people to see that it is more about “influence” than it is about power, and that we all influence other people and one another through our work, regardless of our position.  In her words, “When we begin to see ourselves as the “everyday leaders” that we are, we will be more conscientious about how and when we use our influence, intentionally bringing about the changes we want to see in the world.  As Chief Seattle wisely advised, “We are the ones we have been waiting for!”

In the distinctive training style for which she is known, Denise explores five primary areas of Everyday Leadership that apply to anyone in any position - blending stories, questions, and engaging activities that engross, captivate and inspire participants to view themselves and their opportunities for leadership in a brand new way.  Translating essential leadership principles into 40 specific attitudes, behaviors, and characteristics, Denise offers a concise leadership assessment which can be used as an on-going evaluation tool for the employee’s continuing development.  True to its title this workshop helps to unleash the power of everyday leadership!
